To achieve complete secondary exfoliation and dispersion of organic nanosilicate layers within the resin during the production of organic nanomontmorillonite silicate polymer nanocomposites, processing equipment with sufficient shear capacity-such as a twin-screw extruder (>40 L/D with high-dispersion screw configurations) or an internal mixer-must be employed. This ensures:
1. Intercalation of polymer chain segments into multi-dimensional nanostructures;
2. Uniform dispersion of both phases;
3. Prevention of non-shearing compaction.
The more uniform the dispersion, the lower the required additive dosage, resulting in improved product consistency and optimal char formation and anti-dripping performance during combustion.
